The quality of your recording has the biggest effect on the quality of your transcript and minutes. These tips make a real difference.
Before the meeting
Use a good microphone. An external or dedicated microphone works much better than a laptop or phone microphone.
Record video if you can. It's easier for residents to follow on your public meeting page.
During the meeting
Ask speakers to talk clearly, loudly, and at a steady pace.
Try to keep people from talking over each other. ClerkMinutes can still handle it, but it's more likely to make mistakes.
Read the roll call names out loud. That way they're included in your transcript and minutes.
After the meeting
Upload the original recording as it is. Please don't clean up, filter, or edit the audio first. This can actually make the transcript less accurate.
